The SELF-LOVE Issue

It's time to get personal, girls.

I wasn't always good at self-love.

As a matter of fact, it never even crossed my mind.  If love is a verb, then so is self-love. I had less than zero actions of love toward myself.  It was work, work, work, and work some more.  I was always so busy that it honestly never occurred to me to invest in myself.  At it's core, that's what self-love is all about.  Self-love in action isn't just a catch-phrase here at GGM, it is what we should be dedicating time to regularly.

I have issued a challenge for myself this month, and I encourage you to join me:

The Self-Love Challenge.

What can you commit to this month to actively show yourself some love?

My personal Self-Love Challenge is to add some kind of workout to my Monday-Friday schedule.

Often, I work from home.  My alarm goes off and I have my celery juice, take Romeo out and get on the computer.  By the time I look up again, it's usually around 2.  "How is it 2 in the afternoon already!?" is what I find myself saying.

I have come to see that on the days I work out, I have more energy, I feel mentally lighter and I'm far more productive.  I think I'm just a better person overall when I work out.  So, this month, I am making it a part of each workday.  That's not to say I don't work on the weekends, I'm writing this on a Saturday.  I'm just looking for that feel good feeling during the week and an actionable way to achieve it.  I think the accountability of having to be somewhere is what's going to set me up for success. I am committing to it.

What can you commit to?  Here are some Self-Love ideas for you this month.

  • Weekly get together with a girlfriend, sister or your mom, for example.
  • A new physical activity weekly.
  • One day a week to work on your personal development, reading a new book, journaling, making a vision board, for example.
  • Leaning into self care with an at-home spa day, scheduled weekly.
  • Sign up for a course that will bring you pleasure.
  • Volunteer for the month.

Here's what I know for sure: it's not easy to change our routines and get into a new groove.  But our self-love regimen demands it of us.  If we can't commit to it for ourselves, then who else will?  Drop a note in the comments how you will be putting self-love into action this month.
